What is Laser Genesis?

Laser Genesis is a procedure that utilizes non-invasive laser technology to effectively treat redness and rosacea, enlarged pores, help even out texture, and minimize scars, fine lines, and wrinkles.

What does the redness on my face mean?

Redness on your face is generally caused by dilated capillaries beneath the skin’s surface and give an appearance of redness through definitive, indiscrete vessels. Oftentimes this is confused with rosacea, though there are times when it is related to or is rosacea, either of these scenarios may be hereditary. Laser Genesis’ role in redness and rosacea is to increase and generate heat in dilated capillaries to help reduce the look of redness.

What are enlarged pores?

Enlarged, or open pores often refer to the pores of skin that have been stretched by sebum (oil excreted by sebaceous glands), horn and tallow (skin debris and dead cells), and the natural process of aging that has allowed the elasticity of the skin to be reduced. By slowly and gently heating the upper area of the dermis, Laser Genesis encourages collagen regrowth, which improves and increases the elasticity of your skin, helping to reduce the appearance of those pores.

I’ve had JUVÉDERM®, will this treatment affect it?

If you’ve had a dermal filler procedure like JUVÉDERM® in the recent past, there won’t be any negative side effects. In fact, the opposite has proven to be true. Patients that have had some sort of dermal filling prior to Xeo® laser genesis have enjoyed increased volume of these fillers due to the laser genesis.

What does the treatment feel like?

Though it may seem like laser treatment would be painful, most patients describe Laser Genesis treatment as relaxing and therapeutic. No gel, anesthetic ointment, or ice is necessary before treatment. The experience offers a gentle warming of the surface of your skin as the laser oscillates about one-half inch above the surface. One of the greatest things besides the results is that there is no recovery or downtime after the procedure. You may return immediately to your normal lifestyle whether it’s playing golf or running marathons. The only thing we stress is that you use sunscreen after the procedure. Use sunscreen every day to help keep your skin bright and healthy.

What kind of side effects should I worry about?

Typically, patients don’t report any side effects, though there is slight redness that may appear to the treated area within a few hours of treatment. This redness should dissipate in the first 24 to 48 hours. If it continues or worsens after this, contact our office immediately.

How many treatments will I need to get results?

Though each client’s needs and condition might vary, on average a patient could require four to six session for the best results. This is the case with any type of treatment like this. You’ll notice over the course of the treatment your skin will be smoother and have a healthier glow, it will be like you’re young again! Although individual procedures results can vary and are subtle, the total result of all treatments can be a dramatic difference.
