How Does It Work?
The CoolGlide treatment works by disabling hair that is in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since certain hairs will enter the growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be needed to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.
What Does It Feel Like?
The CoolGlide handpiece cools and soothes as it glides along your skin, taking off unwanted hair. Some patients may experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation while the light is being delivered. Local anesthesia or pain medication is typically not required. However, some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The amount of treatments needed to see permanent results depends on a number of factors, such as hair thickness, the area treated, and your hair’s growth cycle. However, most areas require 3-6 treatments to achieve permanent hair loss.
What Happens After?
Immediately following your CoolGlide treatment, the area may appear somewhat red and swollen. You may experience what seems to be hair regrowth 3-7 days after your treatment. In actuality, most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment. Be sure not to wax or pluck your hair between treatments. However, it is okay to shave.
Are There Any Restrictions After Treatment?
You can return to your normal activities immediately after treatment, but some redness may occur. You should, however, use sunscreen on areas exposed to sunlight. Your physician may recommend that you use a specially formulated skincare product for your skin.
What Are the Possible Side Effects?
The most common side effects are slight reddening and local swelling, but this typically only lasts for a few hours. In rare cases, blistering may occur. Be sure to consult with your physician for more information on the benefits and risks of the treatment.
